Fan Fiction: The Spice of Life

Where writers bring both the best and the worst to life

Where writers bring both the best and the worst to life

If you love to read, and you’ve never visited, you are seriously missing out.  Just in the past few months, I started reading a lot of stories on that website, and now I’m in love with it.  There are some amazing stories on there and, oftentimes, it makes a not-so-great day that much better.

Which is why I said it’s the spice of life.

Countless talented individuals submit work to daily, writing about their favorite fandoms.  And every possible fandom is on there.

I usually read stories about Avatar: The Last Airbender and Harry Potter.  (I’m proud to say that Avatar is number one in the “cartoon” list, as is Harry Potter in the “book” category!)

One of my favorite Avatar authors is DJNS. This author has written many fantastic stories, often about Avatarone of the best being a fiction called “Future Echoes”, a story about Aang resetting history and destroying his chance of having a romantic relationship with Katara.  Holy cow.  It should be a book.  Click this to read it!  You will not regret it.  If you want to see what else DJNS has written, go here to the author’s profile.

(Just a note–stories rated “M” are for mature readers only.  I strongly suggest you stay away from those if you don’t want to encounter any graphic material).

Another cherished Avatar story of mine is “Another Brother”, a story about what might have been if Zuko was adopted into Sokka and Katara’s family.  It is excellent and, again, should be a book.  If you want to read it, tap this.  (Warning–it is not complete and hasn’t been edited in over two years, so it may not ever be finished).  The author who wrote it is AvocadoLove, whose profile you can view here.

And, finally, one of my favorite Harry Potter stories is “Potters, Weasleys, and Misguided Snogging”, a story about the next generation of Potters and Weasleys at Hogwarts.  It’s really entertaining!  If you want to check it out, click this.  The author who wrote it is called Somewhat Quirky, whose profile you can view by going here.

To self-promote, I have submitted a story about Avatar to  It’s called “Born in a New City”, a story about the formation of Republic City, Aang and Katara’s marriage, and the birth of their first child.  Bored this weekend?  Read it by tapping this.  And, if you want to go to my profile, click here.  (If you read my story and choose to review it, let me know in the review that you came from the blog!  I would be curious to know).

What are some of your favorite fan fictions?  Have you written anything?  Feel free to include the links to either in your comments!

Infinite Excitement

Booker Dewitt is in debt. To people that you don’t want to owe money to. Next thing he knows he is given a box and a message “Bring us the girl, repay the debt”. The year is 1912 and Booker is taken out on a rowboat to the middle of the ocean. Dropped off at the lighthouse he finds an elevator and takes it…Where it leads is Columbia: A city in the sky, a Utopian society floating above the earth. He soon finds the girl he is suppose to bring out of Columbia, Elizabeth who has strange and mysterious powers yet has lived in a tower her whole life. Catch is that she is protecting by the “Songbird” a giant, mechanical, winged beast intent on keeping Elizabeth in Columbia and away from Booker. Not only that but the people of Columbia are split in a war against “Outsiders” to the city.

Who is Elizabeth? Who does Booker owe? Why do they want her? Why do the people of Columbia hate her?

Those are a few out out a million questions to be answered in Bioshock Infinite. The game is out this Tuesday (March 26th) and is one of my most anticipated games of 2013. The original Bioshock was set in Rapture: an underwater city and is one of the best games ever made. This is a game to look out for.

The Legend of Zelda Explained

A fan of Zelda? Of course you are. If you have 30 minutes to burn Gametrailers released a new installment of “Timeline”. That’s right. Turns out EVERY Zelda game is part of a timeline and has a specific order. If your a fan of the lore its definitely worth your time. I give you…Timeline

inFAMOUS Second Son

second-son-key-art (1)

I’m a huge fan of the inFAMOUS franchise. If you haven’t played the first two installments then I recommend you stop reading this immediately, go play inFAMOUS 1-2 and come back. I’ll be waiting. If your too lazy to do that i’ll give the rundown. Cole McGrath is a bike courier in Empire City. One day he delivers a package and gets a call telling him to open it….BOOM and explosion levels 6 blocks and he is the only survivor. Not only that but he can control electricity. Now Empire City is under quarantine and multiple factions (gangs, cults, etc) are vying for control. Its up to you as a player. Will Cole be a Hero? Or will he become Infamous. That’s as much as I can tell you right now without spoiling the amazing narrative.

During the reveal of Sony’s PS4 they also released a trailer for “inFAMOUS Second Son”.

Second Son takes place 6 years after inFAMOUS 2 and whether you were a good guy or bad guy stuff went down to make people angry. Cole McGrath’s story is more or less finished and we are getting a new hero. “Delsin Rowe” is a big underacheiver. Till one day he saves some children from a burning bus. After the fact he somehow has the power to manipulate and “phase” into smoke. How did he get his powers? Who is responsible?

Regardless the Government is cracking down on anyone with powers in an attempt to wipe out any threats…and that’s all we know. Seriously. Play inFAMOUS. Play inFAMOUS 2. And get a PS4
